Scotiabank acquires ING Bank of Canada, a direct banking business. It continues to operate as a separate and distinct wholly-owned subsidiary. In 2014, it rebrands as Tangerine.

Scotia Asset Management L.P. changes its name to 1832 Asset Management L.P., which captures the spirit of Scotiabank's history (1832 is the year when the Bank was founded) and creates a single legal entity that will house Scotiabank's distinct asset management businesses.
